Ali Care

Ali Care was created to honor the commitment that Muhammad Ali and his wife, Lonnie, have made that all people with Parkinson's disease receive care, regardless of ability to pay. Through Ali Care, people with Parkinson's disease who have little or no healthcare insurance and limited financial resources receive healthcare and services that enhance quality of life. Services provided through Ali Care may include:

  • Assistance obtaining medications
  • Home safety assessments
  • Assistance obtaining treatments and therapies not covered by insurance
  • Assistance obtaining adaptive equipment
  • Counseling services
  • Respite care
  • Other services and care as needed

Eligibility

Ali Care is available to Arizona residents with Parkinson's disease who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Individuals without health insurance and who are ineligible for AHCCCS, Medicare, or other available assistance.
  • Individuals who have health insurance but lack financial resources to pay out-of-pocket costs for medical needs directly related to Parkinson's disease.

Individuals who meet at least one of these criteria must complete a self-reported financial screening that demonstrates the following guidelines for financial need:

  • Income of $1,300/month or less (individual) or $1,800/month or less (couple).
  • Monthly expenses equal or exceed income.
  • Lack of financial resources (savings and/or checking accounts) to support care.

Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by a committee of healthcare professionals. Services are provided based on priority of need and availability of resources.
